Waking Dream

You know those types of dreams you have when you're sick in bed with a high fever? That's what "The Science of Sleep" is like. Eskewing CG effects and using instead stop-motion photography (a la "Rudolf, the Red-Nosed Reindeer"), director Michel Gondry pulls off a lot of imaginative special effects in this story about a young man who confuses dreams with reality. I found this movie to be leaps better than Gondry's previous one, "The Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind." Gael Garcia Bernal is endearing, and Charlotte Gainsbourg is always interesting.
