Why do most of Ric Burns's films have to include the phrase "a documentary film" in the title? (See:
Eugene O'Neill: A Documentary Film, Ansel Adams: A Documentary Film, New York: A Documentary Film.) And now we have
Andy Warhol: A Documentary Film. Besides this minor annoyance, I'm really looking forward to watching (and taping) this "documentary film" when it airs Sept. 20 and 21 on PBS. The four-hour movie is currently at the Film Forum for two weeks (free admission, by the way). I can't imagine watching Warhol for four hours straight, and I'm a longtime, big-time fan. I'll wait for the T.V. broadcast and catch A.W. in increments.
