Award Season

I love the film award season. Speculation on who and what will receive nominations lures me to see movies that I would normally not see. "The Queen" is such a film. All the talk about Oscar calling Helen Mirren for her performance is the only reason that I checked it out. I'm not an Anglophile and never gave a damn about Princess Diana, but I liked the movie because of Mirren. She truly disappears into this character and does become Queen Elizabeth. The flick isn't all about her, however; the title should have been "The Queen and The Prime Minister" because the Tony Blair character almost seems to get more screen time that QEII.
